It’s important that everyone runs with the most relevant group. Read the descriptions below to see which group you should join. The first rule of Run Dem Crew: no-one is ever left behind.

Tortoise: >10 min/miles
Just recovering from looking in the mirror and seeing bits on your body that weren’t there the last time you looked. It’s a new day and you’ve decided that it’s time to get in shape. You’re aiming to complete a 10k race one day, but for now you’re content to hit the road once a week and running in a group helps keep you motivated.

Hares: 9-10 min/miles
You’ve come to terms with shelling out for a proper pair of running shoes. You might not get there at top speed but you will get there with energy to spare. If you dedicated a bit more time to your running you’d probably surprise yourself with how well you’d do. A couple of runs a week to keep you up to speed is all you need and you run at a pace where it’s still comfortable to talk. You could do a 10k in under 60 minutes with some time to spare. A hare you are but not for much longer. 5 miles on a Tuesday night is just about right.

Greyhounds: 8-9 min/miles
You own a lot of Lycra but like to take your runs at a slightly more leisurely pace than our Cheetah friends. You take in the sights as you run with a nice sprint finish at the end just to make everyone know that you could out run a Cheetah if the need be. Your family think you are a bit odd but appreciate the effort needed to run a 4hr marathon or a sub 50 minute 10k. You’ll never forget the early days in the park when your heart was about to jump out of your chest, but now you can’t imagine life without running a solid 6 miles on a Tuesday night.

Cheetahs: 7-8 min/miles
So you are swift on your feet and enjoy pushing your body to the limit in lycra and whatever else helps you glide through the air at the speed of sound. You’ve completed a marathon in around 3hrs 30 and polish your medal on a regular basis. A sub 45 minute 10k is well within your sights and when watching the Olympics you think that could have been me. You think running machines are for wimps and are running at least four times a week. My friend you are a Cheetah and a 7mile run at pace on a Tuesday is just a warm up for the miles you’ll be dropping on the weekend.

Elite: Sub 7 min/miles
You fly a sub 1.30 half marathon. A 10k is dealt with in under 40mins. Your many marathons are done in the slipstream of the professionals. You are our Elite.
