Six Of The Best: Jazz bangers from Orsi

Orsi is on of my long time friends and a recent convert to the RDC family. Highly skilled on the turntables and with a record collection the size of a small shop I asked her to kick off the six of the best series with her top six jazz selections for the long run. Digest, listen and enjoy

1. Open Sky Unit - Sunshine Star » http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bam3tJ7WkXw
I love this song and I find that it is a perfect opening song when you run because it is uplifting, motivational and it helps you set a nice pace. Plus, not a lot of things beats seeing the sun go up behind the houses in the morning and listening to this song.

2. Billy Parkers Fourth World - Get With It »  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8E-CDCY2FEw
Featuring Dee Dee Bridgewater, this song is epic! The music is on point and the voice is incredible. Listen to the lyrics, especially when it hits the break, and if it doesn’t make you want to do the best run ever then you need to listen harder.

3. Fats Sadi - Little Green Apples »  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4UhKU34irBQ
This is a great little number that is one of the best covers I know of. It just makes you smile and cheers you up when you are about to hit your first mile.

4. Ella Fitzgerald - These Boots Are Made For Walking »  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NKir6wg4bME
This might be more of a girly song but a fantastic version. Makes you feel a bit more cocky plus most people know the lyrics so it’s easy to sing along and get a bit distracted in case it’s needed.

5. Doris - Don’t » http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wEmCS9wO4Cw
This is another sing along song on a much more funkier tip, but the horns get me every time! Another sing along song that takes your mind off whatever might be hurting! Plus, those vocals are simply amazing for a tiny blonde Swedish lady

6. Anita Moore and the TSU Jazz Ensemble - Compared To What »  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LVkucPymqyI
This is definitely one of my all time power songs when it comes to running! The music is powerful, the vocals amazing and the lyrics are really good too. A dance floor filler & killer when I DJ and definitely a song that’s helps me go that little bit extra!
